Do we need a licence?
A marine licence is only required for the Half Cabin and Polycraft Fishing boats. All our other boats do not require any licence
Can I hire a boat if I haven't handled a boat before?
YES! We will provide you with
information on navigation rules, demonstrate the operation of the boat and accompany you on a
short drive around the bay.
What if we need assistance on the water?
Mobile phone reception is generally good on the river, Dont forget to take your car charger if you are out for more than a day. The office phone number is clearly displayed on each vessel and there are after hours and emergency numbers on both houseboats
What happens if the weather is bad?
If you decide that the weather is not good enough to enjoy your day on the party pontoon, you
may transfer your booking to another date (subject to availability) without cost.
If you cancel you will forfeit your deposit.
Unless the conditions are considered unsafe, houseboat hires will continue as normal.
If we decide for reasons of safety you cannot take the boat, you may transfer your booking to
another date or receive a full refund.
What is the latest time we can return ?
4.30pm for Party Pontoons or Fishing boats (12.30pm for morning hire of Fishing
Boats).
3.00pm on the last day of hire(12.00pm on Fridays) for Houseboats.
How close are you to Public Transport?
We are located within walking distance from Cronulla Railway Station: refer to the
Map to locate our shop.

Where can we park our cars?
The Council provides street parking along Tonkin Street. There is also a Council car park
next to the public boat ramp, Be careful to park in the marked spaces only
What happens if we damage a boat?
The boat is insured, but you are responsible for damages and losses up to the value of your bond.
However, if inspection uncovers wilful or negligent damages or breaches of the terms of the hire agreement (eg: driving at night), you will be liable for the total
cost of repairs, including any damages to other boats persons or property
What happens if we run out of water ?
The houseboats hold 400 litres of water in cold storage, filled at the commencement of each hire,
but you can top up whenever you drop in at the Marina for fresh supplies
What do we need to do to get our bond back ?
We give you a clean, undamaged boat. Your bond will be returned when you bring the boat back on
time in a relatively similar state.
Excessive mess from food-fights, bait or fish scales, vomit, confetti/glitter, etc will result
in a cleaning fee.
Broken or missing furniture/equipment will be assessed and part or all of the bond withheld, at
the discretion of Cronulla Houesboats staff.
Breaches of the hire agreement or abusive language/behaviour may also result in the bond being
withheld.
What do we need to bring to hire a houseboat?
You will need to bring your own linen (blankets, pillows, towels), personal
items, food and drinks. There is limited hanging and storage space onboard the houseboat. We suggest you use soft bags rather than suitcases, You are welcome to bring
your own runabout or other water craft(must be less than 4.5m to be towed) dont forget your fenders!
What do we need to bring to hire a Party Pontoon?
You'll need Eating and BBQ utensils, plates, cups and your food and drink - Don't forget the bottle opener. We provide an ice chest
to store your perishables, ice is availble for purchase.
Is there anything we shouldn't bring?
YES. Things you SHOULD NOT BRING onto any of our vessels include Pets, Fireworks, Firearms, Crab pots and Spearfishing equipment.
These items are all prohibited by various local authorities. Other items not to bring include Toilet Paper (we supply suitable paper for our marine toilets)
and any Amplifiers or large sound systems
Where can we take the boat in Port Hacking and can we venture out to sea?
We provide you with a map of the waterway which clearly defines the areas
of interest and those areas which are out-of-bounds. Our boats are for hire in "enclosed waters"
which means, by law, they must not be taken out to sea.
You can be fined $1500 by the Waterways Authority for breaking the law.
Can we cruise on the Houseboat at night ?
No. The houseboat must be on a mooring or anchored between sunset and sunrise.
